Bodega del Fin del Mundo 2006 Gran Reserva Red (Patagonia)

  1. $30
Score Chasers: South America 2011
Roasted at first, with coffee, grilled meat and earth aromas taking the lead. Narrow in the mouth, with firm tannins that frame ripe and healthy raspberry flavors accented by vanilla and cola. A little bit traditional in that it’s earthy and dry, but it’s not devoid of fruit and attitude.  — M.S.  (11/1/2011)

Bodega del Fin del Mundo 2007 Special Blend Red (Neuquén)

  1. $45
Modest lemony aromas set up additional scents of balsam wood, dried cherry, plum and spice. The palate is forward, maybe a touch sharp in terms of acidity, with rustic, roasted, leathery flavors. It is a big wine that finishes lively and also a little rooty and roasted. Cabernet Sauvignon-Malbec-Merlot is the blend.  — M.S.  (11/1/2010)

Bodega del Fin del Mundo 2008 Reserva Malbec (Neuquén)

  1. $19
Dense, rubbery and solid in terms of black-fruit aromas. In the mouth, it feels right and fades nicely, highlighting healthy, firm blackberry, black olive and herbal flavors. Meets the norms of a very good, commendable Malbec. 14,000 cases made.  — M.S.  (12/31/2010)

Bodega del Fin del Mundo 2007 FIN Single Vineyard Cabernet Franc (Patagonia)

  1. $40
Baked fruit and coconut are the lead aromas, and there’s cassis and stewed berry scents as well. Gritty in the mouth, with sweet, medicinal berry fruit flavors, coconut and chocolate. Stocky, ripe, tannic and medicinal on the finish.  — M.S.  (12/31/2011)

Bodega del Fin del Mundo 2010 Reserva Chardonnay (Patagonia)

  1. $19
Opens with light tropical aromas, toasty oak and vanilla. It’s honest on the palate, where the body is good and structured and the flavors of peach and apple are accented by toasty oak. Nice and balanced, but maybe a touch woody for what it is.  — M.S.  (10/1/2011)

Bodega del Fin del Mundo 2009 Reserva Pinot Noir (Neuquén)

  1. $19
On the reticent side in terms of aromas, with a mild soupy quality that lends earth and leather. The palate is thicker, with tannic grab and sweet, herbal berry flavors backed by a creamy, somewhat candied finish. Shows plenty of oak.  — M.S.  (11/1/2010)

Bodega del Fin del Mundo 2010 Postales Malbec (Neuquén)

  1. $11
A bit stalky to begin with; there’s tobacco, herbs and generic berry aromas that turn raisiny upon airing. The palate is definitely on the raisiny side, and thus it’s sweet, a bit flat and ultimately tastes and feels slightly overripe.  — M.S.  (11/1/2011)

Bodega del Fin del Mundo 2008 Reserva Pinot Noir (Patagonia)

Kind of mulchy and leafy, with a brown color that doesn’t suggest freshness or vitality. Tastes of roasted berry and cocoa, with a spicy, dry finish. Decent but comes across heavy and more oaky than fruity.  — M.S.  (3/1/2012)
