From a hot year, this wine adheres to tradition. It’s 85% Tempranillo with Mazuelo and Graciano, so it’s straight from central casting. Ultra purple and sort of gummy and confected. But it’s also pretty solid in the mouth, with tannin instead of flatness holding things together. Tastes like sweet dark plums and candy, while a hint of black coffee darkness enters on the finish. — M.S. (12/15/2008)
