A surprise and a true find in that this wine is excellent but priced well below its quality level. The nose is outright gorgeous; it’s subtle, spicy, layered with dried fruit and folds in hints of tomato leaf and dill. The palate is expressive, delicate and offers smooth, leathery flavors. In a perfect state of evolution; drink now through 2013.

Starts out with baked, mulchy aromas of earthy leather, raisin and tobacco and gets more complex with air. The palate is narrow and clean, with good intensity and flavors of brown sugar, mocha and dried berry fruits. More light and oaky than fruity on the finish. Ready to drink now.

Classic in its aromas, earthiness, zesty acidity and dried fruit character. The mouthfeel is bright, juicy and fresh, with earthy berry flavors, a mild baked element, chocolate notes and leather. Expands on the finish, and overall this is a textbook wine that’s honest and sings of what Rioja represents.

Rusty colored, with mature aromas of earth, tobacco, vanilla and dill. It's crisp and lean on the tongue, with tangy, alert flavors of tomato, pie cherry, dill weed and vanilla. Composed but lightweight, and seemingly at its peak as far as drinkability.

A heavier style of Rioja, with raisin and prune aromas and a brandied character. The palate is expectedly flush and ripe, with weight and size along with black cherry and herbal tea flavors. Shows good stamina and fullness on the finish. Ready to drink now before it starts to fade.

Lightly spiced up front, with cinnamon and nutmeg aromas adding complex sweetness to cherry and cassis scents. It feels juicy and sincere, with a mix of berry, plum, herb, spice and licorice flavors. This turns toward vanilla on the finish. A traditional wine that’s ready now.

A nice, floral, medium-bodied Rioja that should not steer anyone wrong. The nose is harmonized and not overpowering, while the feel is good and easy and the flavors of berry, plum and mild chocolaty oak work well together. Holds its line on the finish as well.

Dried fruit, a touch of compost and then bold coffee and mocha aromas give the wine a decent nose, and the palate, while zesty and snappy, is endowed with pretty good raspberry, cherry and strawberry flavors. Overall it’s fruity and ready to drink but fairly ordinary, and while we like the wine we can’t say it’s a knockout.
