Bodegas Monte La Reina 2006 Torcanto Tinta de Toro (Toro)
Best Buy
Price
$10
For a young Toro, this is a spunky, rubbery wine with plenty of heft, color and flavor if not a lot of polish and finesse. It hits with force and pours on the ripe raspberry and black cherry flavors. For a basic Toro, Torcanto delivers admirable balance and flavor, which is the best one should hope for.

Bodegas Monte La Reina 2005 Torcanto Roble Tinta de Toro (Toro)
Price
$13
Roble means “oak” in Spanish, and oaky it is. The nose is creamy and candied, while the palate is soft, sticky and mixes raspberry with butter-like flavors. When people say they don’t want too much oak on their basic wines, this is what they mean.
