Bodegas Murviedro 2003 Blanco White (Valencia)

  • Best Buy
  1. $6
Enormously fragrant, with sunny aromas of honeysuckle, gardenia and lemon juice. Softer flavors of melon, papaya and lime are solid and supported by fresh acidity. Mild vanilla and honey sweeten the finish. Surprisingly satisfying, with few to no faults. Imported by Tasman Imports, Ltd.  — M.S.  (8/1/2005)

Bodegas Murviedro 2001 Agarena Tempranillo-Cabernet Sauvignon (Utiel-Requena)

  • Best Buy
  1. $8
Medium-weight and approachable now, this Cab-Tempranillo from southern Spain offers juicy (though a little sour) red cherry and plum fruit, with smoke and char accents. Piquant red fruit and earth aromas waft from the nose. Try this at your next barbecue—at this price, how can you go wrong? 60,000 cases produced.  — D.T.  (4/1/2003)

Bodegas Murviedro 2003 Agarena Tempranillo-Cabernet Sauvignon (Utiel-Requena)

  • Best Buy
  1. $7
Overall it’s a sweet, solid wine. Aromas of smoke, berry and marinade precede an avalanche of blackberry in the mouth. That same power pushes onto the finish, where warm pepper notes take over. A good warm-climate red from central Spain. Imported by Tasman Imports, Ltd.  — M.S.  (8/1/2005)

Bodegas Murviedro 2000 Los Monteros Crianza Monastrell (Valencia)

  1. $11
This Valencian Monastrell, with its juicy, mixed black and red fruit, had potential to be something better than it is. On the front end, it offers cream, caramel and blackberry aromas. The wine is mouthfilling though rather simple; its appreciable fruit falls off on the back end. At the very least shows that Valencia’s a region to watch in future vintages. —D.M.  — D.T.  (4/1/2003)

Bodegas Murviedro 2003 Tinto Bobal (Valencia)

  • Best Buy
  1. $6
The nose of this Bobal-based red displays soft, candied fruit aromas and something akin to citrus. Light plum and peach flavors carry the short, simple palate. Tastes pretty good but lacks depth and stuffing. Imported by Tasman Imports, Ltd.  — M.S.  (8/1/2005)

Bodegas Murviedro 1996 Reserva Red (Valencia)

  1. $15
With red plum skin flavors, and an undercurrents of eucalpyptus and herb, the overall impression here is a tart, almost lean, one. Tart red fruit lingers on the finish; the nose offers earth, eucalyptus and red berry aromas. 2,000 cases produced. —D.M.  — D.T.  (4/1/2003)

Bodegas Murviedro 1999 Tinto Crianza Red (Valencia)

  1. $10
The nose shows sweet pastry dough and oak notes; however, this Tempranillo, Monastrell and Bobal blend has drying tannins and oak to spare, with black fruit underneath that can't quite overcome the wood. Might drink better if paired with chorizo, or other grilled meats.  — D.T.  (4/1/2003)
