Bollig-Lehnert 2006 Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Beerenauslese Riesling (Mosel-Saar-Ruwer)

  1. $47
Not quite as extremely sweet as some of the giant BAs from 2006, this wine actually shows a modicum of minerality and spice to go along with hints of dried apricot and honey. It doesn’t finish as long or powerful as some, but instead shows a certain elegance and balance.  — J.C.  (12/15/2008)

Bollig-Lehnert 2006 Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Spätlese Riesling (Mosel-Saar-Ruwer)

  • Editors' Choice
  1. $23
This wine is notably sweet, but its sugars are balanced by ample acidity, making it crisp and refreshing. Hints of slate on the nose are complemented by apple and citrus aromas, while the flavors run toward honey, bergamot and ripe melon. Finishes long, with the acids imparting a mouthwatering quality.  — J.C.  (8/1/2008)

Bollig-Lehnert 2006 Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Auslese *** Goldkap Riesling (Mosel-Saar-Ruwer)

  • Editors' Choice
  1. $27
A lush and enormously fruity auslese, this offering features layers of appealingly ripe fruit, ranging from honeyed peaches to tropically luscious mangoes. If it’s a bit fat and lacks a touch of zip, it makes up for it with sheer deliciousness.  — J.C.  (3/1/2009)

  1. $24
Lemon in color, with pronounced floral aromas—elder-flower, honeysuckle and acacia—alongside white peaches and nectarines. There’s a strong mineral focus on the nose. Sweet, yet deliciously crisp and juicy, with ample flavor concentration. Taut and lively, and has a long minerally finish.  — W.E.  (3/1/2011)

Bollig-Lehnert 2003 Trittenheimer Apotheke Eiswein Riesling (Mosel-Saar-Ruwer)

  1. $42
Sweet and lithe, this is a wonderfully clean and pure expression of Riesling eiswein. There’s no botrytis, only sweet pineapple, apple and citrus flavors that finish on lingering notes of orange and lemon. This should last a while in the cellar, but there’s really no reason to delay gratification.  — J.C.  (12/15/2007)

Bollig-Lehnert 2006 Piesporter Goldtröpfchen Kabinett Riesling (Mosel-Saar-Ruwer)

  1. $19
The Goldtröpfchen vineyard lies above and around the village of Piesport, facing almost due south to best catch the sun’s rays. The result is a soft but concentrated wine, brimming with honeydew, dried spices and tangerine flavors that linger on the finish.  — J.C.  (6/1/2008)

Pale in color and light in body, this waif of a kabinett is undeniably attractive, offering a delicate kaleidoscope of pear, apple, pineapple and lime fruit linked together in gentle harmony. Drink it over the next year or two.  — J.C.  (6/1/2011)

Bollig-Lehnert 2006 Trittenheimer Apotheke Kabinett Riesling (Mosel-Saar-Ruwer)

  1. $19
Trittenheim’s Apotheke vineyard has an ideal exposition on the northern shore of the Mosel. The abundant heat has given this wine a plump, succulent texture and honeyed, ripe flavors of melon and citrus that start off a bit diffuse but gradually gain focus on the long finish.  — J.C.  (6/1/2008)
