Bonaccorsi 2008 Fiddlestix Vineyard Pinot Noir (Sta. Rita Hills)

  1. $50
Score Chasers: USA 2011
Amazingly Burgundian in style, showing intense black cherry, mushroom, truffle, tea and earthy notes. Dry, rich and complex in tannins, with a strong but balanced integration of new wood. Feels authoritative and firm in the mouth, with great weight yet an airy lightness. Drink now–2014.  — S.H.  (10/1/2011)

Bonaccorsi 2006 Cargasacchi Vineyard Pinot Noir (Sta. Rita Hills)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $60
Here’s a full-bodied, deeply-flavored young Pinot that combines flamboyance with elegance, a very difficult feat for any wine. There’s an exoticness to the fruits, spices and smoky, sweet oak. They all meld together into some impossibly decadent pastry, and yet the finish is firm and dry. Should evolve through 2012, at least.  — S.H.  (11/15/2008)

Bonaccorsi 2006 Melville Vineyard Pinot Noir (Sta. Rita Hills)

  1. $60
Delicate power—any oxymoron—would be a fitting way to describe this single-vineyard beauty, grown in the northern part of the appellation. There’s a lightness to the mouthfeel, like cotton candy, but then the power kicks in, reminiscent of cherry reduction, anise, orange zest, herb tea, black pepper and clove-dominated Asian spices. There’s even a hint of smoky…  — S.H.  (12/1/2008)

Bonaccorsi 2008 Bien Nacido Vineyard Syrah (Santa Maria Valley)

  1. $40
Huge aromas on this Syrah, refined, very potent, offering waves of cassis, blackberries, roasted coffee, grilled meat, black pepper, cedar and spices. Tastes as dense and lush as it smells, a full-bodied, rich wine, tannic and with good acidity. Finishes bone dry, yet sweet in cherries. A dazzling crowd-pleaser of a wine that should hold for five years or so.  — S.H.  (11/1/2011)

Bonaccorsi 2008 Melville Vineyard Chardonnay (Sta. Rita Hills)

  1. $40
This complex Chardonnay shows lots of smoky-sweet oak, with notes of buttered toast that are perfectly integrated with flavors of Asian pear, tropical fruits and spices. There’s a wonderfully pure minerality that, together with brisk acidity, gives the wine a bracing quality.  — S.H.  (10/1/2011)

Bonaccorsi 2008 Cargasacchi Vineyard Pinot Noir (Sta. Rita Hills)

  1. $50
Rich in cherries and spices, this dramatic wine has a linear, structural quality to it, the result of dryness and acidity and minerals. Shows the finesse and femininity often associated with this vineyard. Pretty and polished now, but should develop over the next six years.  — S.H.  (10/1/2011)

Bonaccorsi 2008 Nielsen Vineyard Pinot Noir (Santa Maria Valley)

  1. $50
Tons of dusty Indian spices on this wine, along with sweet oak, ripe pie-filling cherries and raspberries and cola. In a word, generous. Yet it’s bright in acidity and dry on the finish. A lovely wine to drink now.  — S.H.  (10/1/2011)

Shows the pedigree of this top vineyard in the well-ripened fruit and impeccable balance. The flavors of red and black cherries, pomegranates, root beer, crème caramel and clove spice are as intricate as a tapestry. Very high quality.  — S.H.  (11/15/2008)
