Borra 2005 Fusion Red (Lodi)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $18
This is a lusty, lip-smacking wine. It’s exuberant in blackberry and cherry pie-filling flavors complexed with cola, mocha and anise, with a rich oaky finish of smoke. The tannins are sturdy and refined, and suggest pairing this polished wine with grilled beef and hard cheeses.  — S.H.  (3/1/2008)

Borra 2008 47.5 Degree Limited Release Red Wine (Clements Hills)

  1. $35
This blend of 80% Petite Sirah, 10% Syrah and 10% Mourvèdre out of Lodi’s Clements Hills is big all-around: big fruit, big oak (50% new French) and big, dusty tannins. But it has a nice follow-through and finish, a glassful of blackberries for the Petite Sirah lovers in your life.  — V.B.  (7/1/2011)

Borra 2006 47.5 Syrah (Clements Hills)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $35
Dry and tannic in youth, with a jammy, somewhat heavy mouthfeel, this wine, from a sub-appellation in Lodi, might benefit from a year or two in the bottle. It has ripe, forward flavors of black currants, cassis, cherries, chocolate and black pepper.  — S.H.  (8/1/2009)

Borra NV Lot 09 47.5 Degree Limited Release Red (Lodi)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $35
Borra is going old-school here, making the wine nonvintage and putting 10% each of Syrah and Mourvedre into Petite Sirah. Smelling of freshly baked bread, the wine is full of structured red fruit, while its tannins are soft and finish is easygoing. A fine bottle for rustic fare.  — V.B.  (5/1/2012)

Borra 2010 White Fusion (Lodi)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $17
Borra is having fun in Lodi experimenting with both red and white blends of varieties not usually put together —here, it’s 89% Viognier and 11% Gewürztraminer—with worthwhile results. White Fusion starts with a severe lemony crispness, segues into oaky caramel and finishes bittersweet.  — V.B.  (6/1/2012)

Borra 2008 Fusion Red (Lodi)

  1. $18
Borra’s Fusion is a bottle full of Lodi’s traditional varietals. It’s got plenty of Petite Sirah’s dustiness with the earthiness of the other varieties fighting through, but the fruit feels a bit overtaken by the 14.9% alcohol.  — V.B.  (7/1/2011)
