Bressia 2004 Conjuro Red (Mendoza)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $120
Deep and brooding, with raisin, tobacco and other dark, jammy notes on the bouquet. Conjuro is Bressia’s top wine, and it shows layering, texture and very good plum and berry flavors. The feel is flush and not totally soft, with integrated oak and medium, mature tannins. With blackberry and spice on the finish, it ends in a round of applause. Dry and balsamic on the bouquet, with earthy, mellow berry aromas that do not push. In the mouth, it comes across charred and roasted, with baked, chocolaty, leafy accents on top of core red fruit flavors. Turns more leafy and charred as it unfolds, with a forward finish. Malbec with Cab Sauvignon and Merlot.  — M.S.  (3/1/2012)

Bressia 2004 Profundo Red (Mendoza)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $47
Sort of mossy and leathery at first, with berry fruit and a big blast of woodsy pine defining the nose. Malbec, Cabernet, Merlot and Syrah comprise Profundo, which may not be profound but still offers very good intensity, structure and overall balance. Finishes with light wood, vanilla and leftover berry flavors.  — M.S.  (11/1/2008)

Shiny purple in color, with a foxy nose that’s jumpy and smells of candied fruit and gumball. Feels cloying and thick, with a creamy mouthfeel and sweet flavors of milk chocolate and candied blackberry. Finishes fiery, then tastes sweet and jammy.  — M.S.  (3/1/2012)

Bressia 2008 Monteagrelo Cabernet Sauvignon (Mendoza)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $27
Opens with wild, foxy aromas that suggest wet animal fur. With time things settle, setting up a plump palate with sweet but fairly bland blackberry and blueberry flavors. Turns hot and woody on the finish.  — M.S.  (3/1/2012)

Bressia 2009 Lágrima Canela White (Mendoza)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $50
Neutral on the nose except for some generic white fruit aromas and saline. Feels tight, linear and driving, with modest apple and vanilla flavors. Turns more barrel-driven and creamy on the finish. Not stellar at this price.  — M.S.  (3/1/2012)

Bressia 2005 Monteagrelo Malbec (Mendoza)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $37
Raw, rubbery and just not that good of a wine. Bramble, leather and compost muscle out any fruit aromas, and on the palate it’s perky to the point of being acidic. Lacks balance while burning up everything in its path.  — M.S.  (11/1/2008)
