Brigaldara 2007 Case Vecie Red (Amarone della Valpolicella)

  • Cellar Selection
  1. $80
Score Chasers: Italy 2011
One of the standout Amarones from the lovely 2007 vintage, Case Vecie is opulent, rich and impressive in terms of intensity and complexity. It opens with dark, inky concentration and releases a long line of black cherry, spice and soft tobacco flavors. Drink after 2015.  — M.L.  (12/1/2011)

This is an extremely opulent wine with rich notes of chocolate fudge, cherry liquor and accents of black peppercorn, ginger and oak. It’s bright and lively in the mouth with excellent intensity and durable persistency.  — M.L.  (10/1/2007)

Brigaldara 2007 Red (Amarone della Valpolicella Classico)

  1. $55
You can’t help but fall in love with Brigaldara’s delicious Amarone, especially if you love bold, dense wines. The aromas roll out slowly and with care, giving space to elements of cola, red cherry, blackberry, drying mineral and dark teriyaki sauce.  — M.L.  (12/1/2011)

Brigaldara 2003 Case Vecie Red (Amarone della Valpolicella)

  1. $60
You can tell this is a blockbuster Valpolicella blend just by looking at it. Dense concentration and generous complexity set a somber mood, followed by smoked bacon, beet root, honey, maple syrup, prune and dried fig. In general this is a broad, horizontal wine (no thorny spikes here) with a silky-smooth finish.  — M.L.  (12/1/2007)

Brigaldara 2005 Case Vecie Red (Amarone della Valpolicella)

  1. $75
Although this hearty Amarone delivers a whopping 17% alcohol, the heat and power is well integrated within the wine’s juicy berry fiber and spicy aromas of clove and pepper. Pair this wine with thick pasta and creamy blue cheese sauce.  — M.L.  (2/1/2011)

Brigaldara 2006 Red (Amarone della Valpolicella Classico)

  1. $50
Elegant and tight with a bright cherry bouquet, this well-integrated Amarone shows nice balance between its ripe fruit flavors and its natural acidity. In fact, this is a food-friendly option that would pair with spicy pork or beef and broccoli.  — M.L.  (2/1/2011)

Brigaldara 2007 Il Vegro Red (Valpolicella Classico Superiore Ripasso)

  1. $22
Ripasso Il Vegro offers a rich and meaty bouquet with aromas of cured beef and honey roasted ham. There are also bright fruit tones of cherry and blackberry and the wine adds a crisp touch of sour cranberry at the very end.  — M.L.  (2/1/2011)

Brigaldara 2000 Red (Amarone della Valpolicella Classico)

  1. $65
Two of our reviewers zeroed in on the wine’s volatility, noting apple skin and nail polish aromas. But our third sampler found sweet, almondy scents and easygoing cherry and plum characteristics. A wine of no consensus: two-thirds of the camp found it lean and just acceptable; the other third liked it significantly more.  — W.E.  (11/1/2005)
