Cadence 2004 Camerata Cabernet Sauvignon (Red Mountain)
-
$50
This is a special wine, a beautiful rendition of pure Cab from a single Red Mountain vineyard—Tapteil. It shows the power of the grape, the structural verticality, the austerity, but it is also ripe enough to stand alone and shine all by itself. This is a perfectly sculpted wine, elegant and fine, sleek and muscular. It needs time, no doubt, but it’s delicious…

Cadence 2003 Ciel du Cheval Vineyard Red (Red Mountain)

$38
Gorgeous, elegant and refined, this opens into wonderfully aromatic scents of dusty coffee, cocoa and mocha. There are streaks of chalk, limestone, gravel and pencil lead, mixed fruits and hints of expressive spice all beautifully layered throughout. Cellar this for at least five years to pull everything together.

Cadence 2007 Tapteil Red (Red Mountain)

A fascinating wine with good aging…

Cadence 2006 Cara Mia Vineyard Camerata Red Wine (Red Mountain)
-
$55
This is the first release from Cadence’s estate vineyard, a 94/6 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cab Franc. Sharp and intense, the nose brings out tightly wound red fruit scents, annotated with leaf and white pepper. In this inaugural vintage the Cabernet Sauvignon clearly dominates. A supple, muscular, focused wine with the structure to develop nicely for up to a…

Cadence 2002 Ciel du Cheval Vineyard Red Wine (Red Mountain)
-
$37
Released in November, has opened up nicely since. Breathes well in the glass; a hefty, aromatic, plummy wine showing nicely integrated soft cherry and tobacco notes, along with seductive streaks of citrus, clove and graphite. It’s smooth but not at all flabby, displaying the hints of minerality that mark Ciel fruit.
