Cameron Hughes Wine is an American négociant located in San Francisco that produces, imports and distributes wine throughout most major wine growing regions. Cameron Hughes Wine was established in 2004 by wine lover Cameron Hughes and his wife Jessica Kogan. What started as a small venture in 2001 out of the back of their Volvo has turned into one of the larger négociant businesses in the US according to our Cameron Hughes reviews. The mission of Cameron Hughes Wine is to work with producers and winery owners to procure wines that have already been produced as well as wine growers in order to make wine in their particular vineyards. They produce wine over various lines including Zin Your Face, CH Collection, Hughes Wellman and their well-known Lot Series. Our Cameron Hughes ratings indicate the value inherent in their entry level lines of wine however it is their premium Hughes Wellman Cabernet Sauvignon that consistently receives the highest accolades. Cameron Hughes 2009 Lot 229 Petite Sirah (Napa Valley)

Plenty of sleek character in this well-grown Napa Petite Sirah. Shows lots of class and balance for a variety that can be hard to control. Likeable for its array of fresh, ripe berry, cherry, currant, bacon and spice flavors, and the smoothness of its tannins.  — S.H.  (12/15/2011)

Cameron Hughes 2009 Lot 267 Cabernet Sauvignon (Spring Mountain)

Impressive in concentrated mountain fruit, this Cabernet has a gigantic core of ripe blackberries, blueberries and cherries. It’s a sweet wine, in the fruity sense, but is fully dry, and balanced with fine tannins and acidity, not to mention a firm minerality that comes from the earth.  — S.H.  (12/15/2011)

Good price for a wine this rich and pleasing. With masses of blackberries, cherries, currants, anise and cedar folded into firm tannins, it’s ready to drink now. Just might be the best value you’ll find in a Spring Mountain wine, red or white.  — S.H.  (12/15/2011)

Lots of rich blackberries, cherries and chocolate in this Cab, but it’s no mere fruit bomb. It’s saved by a fine structure of acids and tannins. Very nice price for a wine this good.  — S.H.  (12/15/2011)

Cameron Hughes 2009 Lot 242 Chardonnay (Atlas Peak)

At this price, this is one of the Chardonnay steals of the year. It’s made in the popular style, rich in ripe tropical fruit flavors, with a stony core of minerals, and liberally enhanced with sweet, smoky oak.  — S.H.  (12/15/2011)

Cameron Hughes 2009 Lot 225 Sauvignon Blanc (Leyda Valley)

  • Best Buy
  1. $12
A one-dimensional, pungent style of SB that’s fresh, zesty and tangy in the mouth courtesy of zippy acidity and flavors of tangerine, grapefruit and passion fruit. Finishes more in the pink grapefruit zone, but with snap. Chiseled and linear, but definitely still kicking.  — M.S.  (4/1/2011)
