Cantine del Notaio 2005 La Firma Aglianico (Aglianico del Vulture)
-
$63
La Firma (The Signature) delivers thick and powerful aromas of black fruit, plum cake, resin, tar, granite and cola. The wine is thick, extracted and structured with firm tannins and long notes of spice and peppercorn on the finish. It’s a powerful, immense wine that would pair well with venison stew or wild boar. A Marc de Grazia selection, various American importers.

Cantine del Notaio 2003 Il Rogito Rosato Aglianico (Basilicata)
-
$21
A rosé so red it could pass as a Pinot Noir. The nose has cassis, cherry, strawberry and toasted notes and a prominent balsam tail. Aglianico is naturally high in malic acid and you can taste that crispness here. Not unbalanced, but not tightly knit, either. A Marc De Grazia Selection, various importers.
