There’s a lot going on in the glass here. This bright riserva opens with tangy notes of tobacco, cherry liqueur, spice, black olive, forest floor and oak-driven accents of vanilla and clove. At this young stage, the wine is still slightly astringent, but the tannins will soften with time.

Dense concentration and a pleasant balance of cherry flavors contrasted against chocolate and spice characterize this Brunello from Capanne Ricci. The mouthfeel is lean and compact and the wine ends with a blast of sour cherry.
