Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, this bottling really struts its stuff in the elegant 2006 vintage. It opens with intense and finely polished aromas of berry, lead pencil, brimstone, leather and black currant. It feels tight, crisp and firm on the finish. Give it another 5–10 years of cellar aging.

This is elegant and layered, with notes of savory smoked meat, spice, dark fruit, blackberry and leather. It shows a very dark, brooding and masculine personality with polished tannins and impressive length.

Made from 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, this is bright and intense, and it shows notes of dark fruit, spice, leather, prune, rum cake and tobacco, plus aged aromas of black licorice and cured meat. Fine, dusty tannins mark the close.

This pure expression of Cabernet Sauvignon from sunny Tuscany has done a good job of holding up to the heat of the vintage. The wine shows ripe aromas of blackberry, chocolate and spice but does not taste jammy or cooked. In fact, it strikes a very good balance between fruit and firmness.

Although the aromas carry more than a hint of bell pepper, this green element takes a back seat on the palate to rich currant and earth flavors and just a hint of toasty oak. “We’re in the ripe fruit business, not the lumber business,” jokes Zaccheo. Firmly structured, with good grip on the finish. Drink 2005-2010.

Dark-fruited, but shows some slightly vegetal, green-peppery overtones. In the hot summer, one wonders whether the skins/seeds ripened before sugar levels pushed the limits. Big and round in the mouth, with recurring capsicum notes on the thick, tannic finish.
