Casajús 2004 Vendimia Seleccionada Tempranillo (Ribera del Duero)

  1. $21
Heavy and a touch nutty at first, with coconut and earth. Then it opens to a palate of black cherry, plum, mocha and coffee. Has breadth and medium tannic grab, with a solid feel and density. A little big at 14.5% but quite good overall.  — M.S.  (6/1/2007)

Casajús 2003 Antiguos Viñedos Tempranillo (Ribera del Duero)

  1. $33
A nice hue entices you, and the nose is meaty, tight and well oaked. With solid blackberry, dark cherry and chocolate flavors, this old-vines wine delivers the goods and manages to stay on course from start to finish. Almost everything about the wine is solid and commendable, even if it doesn’t have the chops of something from the top echelon.  — M.S.  (6/1/2007)

Casajús 2005 Vendimia Seleccionada Tempranillo (Ribera del Duero)

  1. $21
Alongside open, hefty berry aromas are bramble and toasted oak notes. The palate pushes pure cherry and plum flavors, while the toasty back end finishes with chocolate and espresso. A perfectly good wine with medium tannins and depth.  — M.S.  (6/1/2007)

Casajús 2004 Tempranillo (Ribera del Duero)

  1. $17
A little oily and nutty on the nose, but there’s also deep, dark fruit aromas and some leather to keep it on an even keel. The palate features moderate black cherry and coffee flavors with medium tannins, and the finish is dry, peppery and warm.  — M.S.  (6/1/2007)

Casajús 2006 Vendimia Seleccionada Tempranillo (Ribera del Duero)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $28
Opens with pasty, oaky aromas and very little fruit or clarity. The palate is flat in feel and thick, with woody, medicinal flavors. Finishes with a pile of woodspice and not a whole lot else. Generic and uninspired for the price.  — M.S.  (4/1/2011)
