Cascina Chicco 2007 Rocche di Castelletto Nebbiolo (Barolo)
-
$74
From the Monforte d’Alba area of Barolo, this deeply concentrated and rich wine is etched by sharp aromas of licorice, black pepper, red cherry, chocolate, leather and cigar box. The mouthfeel, with its soft, velvety tannins, is particularly pleasurable. Drink after 2015.

Cascina Chicco 1997 Valmaggiore Nebbiolo (Roero)
-
$25
Quite dark in color, this densely aromatic and flavored red delivers lots of blackberry, plum and oak notes on the nose, followed by black-cherry and chocolate flavors. The mouthfeel is rich, but with a tangy acidity that keeps it lively, and the finish is long. It lacks the pedigree of some top Piedmontese wines but delivers more flavor and texture than many more…
