Castillo de Perelada 2007 Cuvée Rosado Brut Trepat (Cava)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $19
A little stalky on the nose, with basic red fruit aromas. The palate is crisp and snappy, with citrus and plum flavors and pretty nice depth. Fades out with zesty orange and raspberry, leaving some tang on the tongue.  — M.S.  (7/1/2011)

Castillo de Perelada NV Brut Rosado Sparkling (Cava)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $15
Strawberry and raspberry aromas are muddled by a burnt stalky character. In the mouth, it has good weight and flavors of fresh herbs, mint and slightly burnt, sulfuric cherry and raspberry. Shows a candied raspberry finish along with notes of herbs.  — M.S.  (7/1/2011)

Castillo de Perelada NV Brut Reserva Sparkling (Cava)

  1. $15
Basic peach and melon aromas come with lettuce and white pepper accents. The palate runs a little soft and low on acid and bubbles, while the flavor profile is sweet, with lime and apple at the core. A standard, basic Cava.  — M.S.  (12/15/2011)

Castillo de Perelada 2005 5 Finca Reserva Red (Empordà)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $19
An oddball blend of many grapes that offers a spicy oak cover and sweet, earthy notes from front to back. But it’s hard as nails, with blazing acidity, the result of which is a clacky, rough wine. On the plus side it has interesting flavors with tobacco and citrus notes.  — M.S.  (12/15/2011)

Castillo de Perelada NV Cresta Rosa Rosé (Emporadà-Costa Brava)

  1. $18
This oddball from near Girona is a sparkling dry wine with hardly any flavor other than dried fruit and burnt toast. It isn’t particularly good or bad, and finding its target market seems impossible. But what the heck, here it is, a bone-dry Rosado sparkler. Go figure.  — M.S.  (9/1/2004)
