This is pungent stuff—redolent of sweaty socks and nettles—but it’s also concentrated and intense, balancing out those strident aromas with round, ample flavors of melon and green tomato. It’s leafy, fresh and assertive on the finish. Drink now.

This attractively priced Pinot Noir combines fruit from Nelson and Marlborough to create a fresh, snappy blend of plum and black cherry fruit. Some slightly briary-herbal notes and silky tannins add interest, smoothed out by hints of brown sugar and baking spices. Drink now–2012.

A pretty, pure Pinot, with lovely strawberry and cherry flavors backed by just hints of mushroom, tree bark and dried spices. It’s light- to medium-bodied, with a silky, elegant finish. Fairly priced for the quality; drink over the next couple of years.

Fans of tropical fruit will love this wine, as it’s filled with variations on that theme: guava, banana, passion fruit and lime all play roles here in this zesty mouthful. The lime gives it a sense of focus and freshness on the finish.
