What a treat! Smoky, moist loam, coffee grounds, dried plum, anise, tobacco—a fully mature, complex and detailed wine at its peak. The veins of flavor keep coming through, adding dried leaves, sassafras and more, as it weaves through the finish.

A lot to like here. Firm, tart cherry and cassis fruit sets the tone. It’s still packed and a bit reticent, but opens beautifully into a wine of layered elegance, with firm, age-worthy tannins.

This exceptional bottle features fully ripe, compact fruit, with classic cassis and black-cherry flavors at its core. Streaks of earth and iron suggest that the vineyard has a distinctive terroir, and the wine has the muscle to age well for a decade or more. —P.G.

Beautifully concentrated and textural, this Viognier mixes melon, white peach, nectarine and lemon fruit with pleasing minerality. There is none of the burn or bitterness that so often affects Washington Viogniers. This is a really refreshing, palate-cleansing wine.

Here’s the dark, concentrated intensity one looks for in the best Washington Cabernets, yet it also retains an elegance, a lightness on its feet, that is often sacrificed in the pursuit of pure power. Smooth, almost silky, it’s a ripe, fruity wine, bolstered with just the right acid/tannin counterweight, and finished with lush, layered flavors of plum, clove and spice.

This wine has a promising, deep black cherry color to it, and it’s scented with dark, roasted coffee, tobacco and spice. The fruit seems perfectly ripe and balanced, though not jammy or raisiny in any way, and it includes nuances of herb and leaf that add a lot of flavor interest. Classy winemaking, with texture and depth in a drink-now style. 227 cases produced.

This is fragrant and very pretty with lime/tangerine orange peel citrus scents. On the palate it is soft and smooth, without the bitterness that viognier can show. Very nice effort, a bit light in the back end, but clean and very aromatic all the way through, with flavors of rose petals and orange peel. Delightful bottle, just 13.5% alcohol.

Big and concentrated, this is a huge mouthful of really tasty juicy. Peach, pineapple and soft tropical flavors combine in a ripe and luscious wine, which puts the fruit well ahead of the butter and toast.
