This is the winery’s first vintage of Syrah from estate fruit. It tastes of red licorice, cranberries and raspberries; there’s a whiff of white pepper and some well-managed tea-flavored tannins. Clearly young wine from young vines.

A big step up for this winery’s Gewürztraminer, this off-dry style puts the emphasis on a flavor mix of sweet tea, Meyer lemon, orange candy and a hint of granular sugar. Tasty and full-bodied, with balancing acids.

The best of the winery’s new releases, this 45% Cab, 45% Merlot, 10% Cab Franc blend has more nuanced fruit, mixing black cherry, plum, ripe hints of raisin and prune with whiffs of spice and smoke. The rough edges have been smoothed, and the long finish includes pleasing streaks of vanilla.

Fruity and full-flavored, this quaffable Riesling brings a full share of peachy fruit, honeysuckle and English breakfast tea. The residual sugar is just over 1%, and the acids compensate, giving it good balance.

A Bordeaux-style blend that is a barrel selection from estate fruit. The tannins are substantial in all the Cave B reds, but particularly so here––thick and astringent to the point of chalky. There is interesting depth and some high-toned red fruits.

The highlight of a thin lineup, Cave B’s Sauvignon Blanc brings tart fruit flavors of lemon and lime, grapefruit and melon. Thankfully, no oak was applied; this winery has a heavy hand with barrels. This new bottling is young enough to retain the crispness and liveliness of the natural fruit.
