Aromas of pencil shavings, marzipan and jammy berry are sweet and slightly candied. Flavors of Bing cherry, raisin, licorice and citrus peel are forward and tight, while the finish is long and flavorful, with some acidic tang. Lively despite a mild raisiny quality. Drink now through 2013.

Intense up front, with potent black fruit aromas offset by a lactic creaminess. Racy and juicy in the mouth as bright, penetrating blackberry flavors hit hard and then are softened by flavors of chocolate and mocha. Feels a little acidic and strained, but should age nicely for up to five years.

Very sweet and round in the nose—a true whiff of Spanish Garnacha if there ever was one. The palate feels chewy as it delivers earthy, sweet flavors that don’t really fit any one particular flavor profile. In its favor, the wine has size and guts. But it also seems a tad overripe and raisiny.
