Chandler Reach 2004 Parris Estate Reserve Cabernet Franc (Yakima Valley)

  1. $38
This is 100% Cab Franc, and Chandler Reach has a particular talent with this grape. This is almost jet black, saturated with color, and it goes deep with sweet, ripe black cherry and black olive flavors. The dark stuff is balanced by fresh acid, well-modulated tannins and a finish with pleasing texture and balance. It’s muscular, herbal and smooth, with hints of…  — P.G.  (12/31/2008)

Chandler Reach 2004 Parris Estate Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon (Yakima Valley)

  1. $42
The blend includes 3% Cab Franc; which added some aromatics. Normally Chandler Reach wines are pure varietals; in this instance the Franc rounded out the midpalate and ramped up the scents. There’s a firm streak of mineral, iron and anise. With cheese and smoked meats, sweetness emerges.  — P.G.  (12/31/2008)

Chandler Reach 2003 Monte Regalo Red (Yakima Valley)

  1. $22
Youthful, plummy, bright, clear and very toasty. The new oak jumps out at you, but then the fruit stands up to it. It’s hard and tannic, taut, compact, serious Cabernet, with plenty of stuffing for cellaring, and just a hint of leather and leaf.  — P.G.  (6/1/2006)

Chandler Reach 2003 Parris Cabernet Sauvignon (Yakima Valley)

  1. $42
The Parris wines are the estate-grown reserves, and as the vineyard matures, the wines should gain in concentration and complexity. As before, the Cabernet shows clean, ripe but still young fruit, sweet and plump. Subtle notes are your reward if you are willing to give it some extra attention—finishing streaks of black tea, ground coffee, toffee, pepper and herb…  — P.G.  (5/1/2007)

Chandler Reach 2002 Parris Cabernet Franc (Yakima Valley)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $38
Strong whiffs of barrel, cracker, toast, butterscotch and a hint of leather take off in the beginning, but behind it all is solid, ripe, plentiful black cherry fruit. There is also a strong streak of mint running through the middle, and the wine has good weight and texture across the palate. It’s muscular without being clunky; there is substance here but it is…  — P.G.  (6/1/2006)

Chandler Reach 2005 Estate Select Monte Regalo Red (Yakima Valley)

  • Editors' Choice
  1. $22
Dark, thick and aromatic, this blend of 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Syrah can stand alongside others selling for two or three times the price. It’s a supple mix of dark fruits and spicy herb; it almost bristles with sharp hints of nettle, pepper and green tea. The tannins are supple and smooth, and there is a polish to the wine…  — P.G.  (12/31/2008)

Chandler Reach 2003 Parris Cabernet Franc (Yakima Valley)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $38
This is 100% Cab Franc. Chandler Reach has made another terrific example, saturated and lush with sweet, ripe black cherry fruit. There is a hint of leather, plenty of snappy acid, well-modulated tannins and behind the tangy fruit a wine with pleasing texture and balance. It’s muscular without steroids, a fine follow up to the excellent 2002.  — P.G.  (5/1/2007)

Chandler Reach 2007 Dessert Wine Viognier (Yakima Valley)

  1. $27
This was picked at the same time as the regular Viognier, but fermentation was stopped, leaving it as a sweet wine (about 4.8% r.s.). The fruit is laced with honey, lime and apricot; it’s delicious without being cloying.  — P.G.  (12/31/2008)
