Chanson Père et Fils 2005 Pinot Noir (Charmes-Chambertin)
-
$225
Dark in color, this is a rich, opulent, almost showy wine. The fruit is ripe, a combination of the sweetest strawberries with black cherries, laced with rich acidity. Then the tannins power in, a dry core of structure and density. Impressive and long-lasting, don’t touch this wine for another six years at least.

Chanson Père et Fils 2007 Domaine Héritiers Paul Chanson Pinot Noir (Corton Vergennes)
Rounded and fat, with the weight and power of white wines from Corton. The texture is taut, still very young, waiting to allow the full richness of the fruit to come through. Impressive, it needs a minimum of four years aging.

Chanson Père et Fils 2004 Echezeaux Pinot Noir (Echézeaux)
The class of the grands crus of Vosne-Romanée, such as Echezeaux, is well expressed in this beautifully crafted wine. The hand of master wine consultant, Jean-Pierre Confuron, is obvious in the pure fruits, the ripeness and the richness, along with the proper tannin structure. Another example of the way Chanson has found a new future for itself.
