Chanson Père et Fils 2005 Pinot Noir (Charmes-Chambertin)

  • Cellar Selection
  1. $225
Dark in color, this is a rich, opulent, almost showy wine. The fruit is ripe, a combination of the sweetest strawberries with black cherries, laced with rich acidity. Then the tannins power in, a dry core of structure and density. Impressive and long-lasting, don’t touch this wine for another six years at least.  — R.V.  (12/31/2008)

Chanson Père et Fils 2007 Pinot Noir (Charmes-Chambertin)

A big, rounded wine, its acidity a foil to the ripe fruit and dusty texture. The structure is chunky and corpulent, the fruit strawberry and red plum fruit packed tightly. It is still integrating, definitely promising some long-term aging.  — R.V.  (12/31/2010)

Chanson Père et Fils 2007 Pinot Noir (Chambertin Clos de Bèze)

  • Cellar Selection
With its solidly dry tannins, this is a powerhouse, very dark in texture, very structured. The fresh fruit is just showing from all this intensity. Still very youthful, this is an impressive wine for aging over many years.  — R.V.  (12/31/2010)

Chanson Père et Fils 2007 Domaine Héritiers Paul Chanson Pinot Noir (Corton Vergennes)

  • Online Exclusive
Rounded and fat, with the weight and power of white wines from Corton. The texture is taut, still very young, waiting to allow the full richness of the fruit to come through. Impressive, it needs a minimum of four years aging.  — R.V.  (12/31/2010)

Chanson Père et Fils 2008 Pinot Noir (Charmes-Chambertin)

  • Cellar Selection
  1. $190
Big, full-bodied wine, the great tannins dominating the underlying red fruit. It’s firmly concentrated, intense, a powerhouse of dense texture and obviously a wine that will need aging. Give it 5–6 years.  — R.V.  (7/1/2011)

Chanson Père et Fils 2007 Les Folatières Premier Cru Chardonnay (Puligny-Montrachet)

  • Cellar Selection
  • Online Exclusive
  1. $115
A beautifully ripe wine, full of spice and mineral, the yellow fruits rich over the acidity and light toasty element. The weight is the thing here, intense great swathes of fruit.  — R.V.  (11/1/2010)

Score Chasers: France 2011
A rich and opulent wine from the neighbor of Corton-Charlemagne. Its weight and balancing texture give the wine considerable power and density of fruit, toast and a structure for aging.  — R.V.  (9/1/2011)

Chanson Père et Fils 2004 Echezeaux Pinot Noir (Echézeaux)

The class of the grands crus of Vosne-Romanée, such as Echezeaux, is well expressed in this beautifully crafted wine. The hand of master wine consultant, Jean-Pierre Confuron, is obvious in the pure fruits, the ripeness and the richness, along with the proper tannin structure. Another example of the way Chanson has found a new future for itself.  — R.V.  (3/1/2007)
