Château Angélus 2009 Barrel sample Red (Saint-Emilion)

  • Online Exclusive
94-96 Barrel sample. A immensely powerful wine, heaving with fresh fruit and dark tannins. It is full of spiced plums, dark cherries and berries. These lie over wood and a powerful structure.  — R.V.  (8/9/2010)

Château Angélus 2006 Red (Saint-Emilion)

Initially the wine is all firm tannins, but then there is a pure line of fresh black fruits that comes through, with cranberry tannins and blackberry jamminess. Above it all, is succulent richness and clear acidity. A beautifully shaped wine.  — R.V.  (3/1/2009)

Château Angélus 2006 Barrel Sample Red (Saint-Emilion)

93-95 Barrel Sample Very dark in color, almost black, this wine has sweetly ripe fruit, very opulent, chocolaty and with seriously concentrated fruit. It is hugely powerful, very dark.  — R.V.  (6/1/2007)

Château Angélus 2005 Barrel sample Red (Saint-Emilion)

  • Online Exclusive
93-95 Barrel sample. A spicy, densely sweet wine, all ripe purple fruits bursting out of a straitjacket of tannins, with the wood flavors quite dominant at this stage. The wine is firm, but the fruit is so big that the dryness is lost.  — R.V.  (6/20/2006)

Score Chasers: France 2011
A complete wine, from the black currant fruits through the balanced tannins to the acidity. It is sturdy, complex, a wine that is already singing and will age well.  — R.V.  (4/1/2011)

Château Angélus 2011 Barrel Sample Red (Saint-Emilion)

92-94. Barrel sample. Very dry, firm and hard, this is heavily dominated by new wood. It's only the underlying weight that suggests the black fruit potential.  — R.V.  (4/6/2012)

Château Angélus 2010 Barrel sample Red (Saint-Emilion)

  • Online Exclusive
91-93 Firm and tannic, very structured wine, while still savoring its rich fruit character. This feels very opulent and rich. There is a problem with alcohol showing through as a pepper edge.  — R.V.  (6/25/2011)

Château Angélus 2007 Red (Saint-Emilion)

  1. $180
There is good density here, a wine that seems well balanced and integrated. It has a solid, firm kernel, but this is balanced with great fresh acidity as well as blackberry fruits. The wine still seems to be coming together after bottling, and certainly needs 4–5 years.  — R.V.  (4/1/2010)
