Château Balestard la Tonnelle 2011 Barrel Sample Red (Saint-Emilion)
Online Exclusive
88-90. Barrel sample. Generously fruity, packed with sweet tannins and ripe fruits, this wine shows wood aging with licorice notes and a final burnt character.

Château Balestard la Tonnelle 2005 Barrel sample Red (Saint-Emilion)
Online Exclusive
87-89 Barrel sample. Minty aromas and smooth wood show a New World character. The fruit is so ripe it borders on warm. There are tannins there, but not enough to structure the boundless fruit at this stage.

Château Balestard la Tonnelle 2005 Red (Saint-Emilion)
At this stage, this wine from the estate owned by the Capdemourlin family is showing more wood than fruit. But the fruit that does happen to pop over the wooden parapet is sweet, black and dark. The finish is just astringent.
