Château de Chantegrive 2007 Cuvée Caroline White (Graves)

  1. $23
The top white wine from Chantegrive, this is a smoothly wood-aged wine. However it doesn’t lose sight of deliciously fresh, herbaceous fruits which come through crisply. That makes the resulting balance immediately appealing, acidity and spice coming together well. Worth aging for 2–3 years.  — R.V.  (7/1/2009)

Château de Chantegrive 2007 White (Graves)

  1. $18
A leading estate in the southern Graves region, Chantegrive has produced a relatively rich 2007 white, its creamy texture given an edge by apple skin tannins, but still full, open, already generous to drink. There is a great layer of fresh pear juice, which blends well with lime acidity for a final burst of crispness.  — R.V.  (7/1/2009)

  1. $24
The aromas and initial taste are all of new wood. Only later does some fresh red fruit appear, giving the wine a lift. There is enough fruit here, but this needs time for the wood to calm down. Then the wine will show the vibrancy the structure suggests.  — R.V.  (11/1/2007)
