Château de Gaudou 2005 Réserve de Caillau Malbec (Cahors)
Cellar Selection
Price
$19
Ripe, generous, mint-and eucalypt-flavored wine, shot through with dry tannins and minerality, but also showing fine blackberry and dark plum-skin flavors. There is a satisfying tension here between fruit and herbal characters, promising good aging—try it again in five years.

Château de Gaudou 2008 Renaissance Malbec (Cahors)
Online Exclusive
Price
$21
Classic black-colored Malbec, very perfumed, its fruit polished by smooth tannins. On the palate, black damson and bitter chocolate flavors are present. It’s a powerful wine, full of firm tannins, its dark edge softened by wood.

Château de Gaudou 2003 Red (Cahors)

Price
$9
The Durou family has been at Gaudou since the 18th century, and today Fabrice Durou is the latest in the line to make Cahors on the 86-acre property. This blend of Malbec, Merlot and Tannat is initially juicy, until the firm, solid tannins kick in. It’s still young with blackberry and bold fruit flavors, and young fruit tannins.

Château de Gaudou 2004 Renaissance Malbec (Cahors)
Online Exclusive
Wood-aged Malbec, and yes, the wood is all there. There is some fruit, red berries and some sweetness, but the wood dominates at this stage. Give it two years. Very provisional as of now.

Château de Gaudou 2005 Tradition Red (Cahors)

Surprisingly soft, very open, lightweight wine. It has pleasant fruits, juicy and red, with just a hint of tannins. Enjoy this now, it is a good light wine.
