Château de Sancerre 2006 Pinot Noir (Sancerre)

  • Online Exclusive
  1. $28
Very perfumed Pinot Noir aromas, a wine that offers more than usual weight for a red Sancerre, as well as ripe plums and some sweetness. The texture is soft, juicy, only a touch of dry tannin at the heart, while the finish is all freshness and vivid berry acidity.  — R.V.  (9/1/2009)

Château de Sancerre 2007 Sauvignon Blanc (Sancerre)

  1. $25
Fresh grapefruit and textured apples and cream flavors dominate this finely made wine. The fruit is all there, very forward, crisp and herbaceous, ready to drink now with its soft finish.  — R.V.  (9/1/2009)

Château de Sancerre 1997 Sauvignon Blanc (Sancerre)

  1. $18
Textbook crisp Sancerre from an ancient Loire property. Very typically defined by lively citrus fruit and a combination of steeliness and flowers. A good bistro wine, perfect for a shellfish salad at the café. Sharp and refreshing when cold, it gets nutty and more hospitable at a warmer temperature. Overall a nice wine.  — M.S.  (10/1/1999)

Château de Sancerre 2005 Pinot Noir (Sancerre)

  1. $22
An impressively rich Sancerre red, showing plenty of red berry fruits, tight tannins and balanced acidity. Yes, it is not Burgundy, but in 2005 Sancerre could really justify its red wines, and this example, with delicacy and elegance, works well.  — R.V.  (9/1/2008)

Château de Sancerre 2006 Cuvée de Connetable Sauvignon Blanc (Sancerre)

  1. $33
Wood-aged Sauvignon Blanc is always a difficult balancing trick. This wine, the top cuvée from Château de Sancerre, doesn’t quite make it, with the spicy wood dominating the lighter fruit. The hints of fruit suggest pears and pink grapefruit, but always the wood intervenes.  — R.V.  (9/1/2009)
