Château de Tracy 2005 Haute Densité Sauvignon Blanc (Pouilly-Fumé)
Cellar Selection
Price
$99
From a vineyard planted with almost 7,000 vines per acre, and with low yields (2 bunches) per vine, you would expect concentration. And the wine is hugely perfumed, very aromatic, the fruit flavored with essence of green plum and grapefruit juice. It’s the sort of wine that needs at least 3–4 years aging.

Château de Tracy 2008 Haute Densité Sauvignon Blanc (Pouilly-Fumé)
Cellar Selection
Price
$110
With a density of nearly 7,000 vines per acre, and consequent low yields, it is not surprising this is a concentrated, intense wine. It has quintessential herbaceous flavors, rounded out with a creamed apple element and a tight, steely texture. Age for 3–4 years.

Château de Tracy 2004 Haute Densité Sauvignon Blanc (Pouilly-Fumé)
Price
$99
The first vintage of this experimental, 7,000 vines per acre wine. An intense, dense wine, all the herbaceous, mineral character of Sauvignon Blanc is magnified with orange zest, touches of pear skin and a steely acidity.

Château de Tracy 2006 Haute Densité Sauvignon Blanc (Pouilly-Fumé)
Cellar Selection
Price
$51
A big, ripe wine, still very young and fresh in the mouth, showing how concentrated Sauvignon Blanc can age well. From a densely planted vineyard, the wine is bold, with a hint of minerality. It will age for several more years.

Château de Tracy 2004 Sauvignon Blanc (Pouilly-Fumé)
Price
$35
There aren’t many aristocratic estates in the largely peasant-based culture of Pouilly. But this is one, and it’s old, dating back to 1396. The Estutt d’Assay family makes one wine, an estate wine: This 2004 has great elegance, not hugely rich, but with fine, pure fruit flavors that are already well balanced. There’s roundness from the terroir of Tract-sur-Loire as…

Château de Tracy 2008 101 Rangs Sauvignon Blanc (Pouilly-Fumé)
Price
$140
From a parcel at the highest point of the Tracy vineyard, this is a spectacular, densely mineral wine, taking its flavor from the soil. It is spicy, ripe and very full, with light tropical fruits as well as a taut and tight texture. Age for 2–3 years.

Château de Tracy 2008 Sauvignon Blanc (Pouilly-Fumé)
Price
$40
Wonderful herbaceous aromas shout Sauvignon Blanc. There is also a tropical element in the ripe fruit of this fine, cleanly fresh wine. It has good density, a layer of minerality and a shot of bright final acidity.

Château de Tracy 2006 Sauvignon Blanc (Pouilly-Fumé)
Price
$35
Young to taste, this wine is hardly ready to show its full fruit and rounded green flavors. Yet it’s possible to tell that this is going to be impressively rich but crisp, the acidity a telling adjunct to the perfumed concentration and pear skin flavors.
