Chateau Felice 2001 Mill Road Vineyard Syrah (Paso Robles)
Price
$30
A good wine from the warmer part of the AVA, and it shows in the slightly Porty, raisiny flavor and thick, chocolatey, melted tannins and soft acidity. But it’s fresh, tasty and gentle, with a nice, dry finish.

Chateau Felice 2001 Estate Chardonnay (Chalk Hill)
Online Exclusive
Price
$20
This Chardonnay is distinctive for its extreme full-bodiedness. It’s a heavy, dense wine, a bit low in acidity but not unattractive, with scents of cigarette, vanilla and mango and a full-blown fruity, herbal taste.
— S.H.

Chateau Felice 2002 Acier Chardonnay (Russian River Valley)
Price
$16
Has some ripe peach and pear fruit and an oaky veneer, but can’t overcome its rustic mouthfeel. The tannins are apparent. Finishes bitter.

Chateau Felice 2001 Zinfandel (Chalk Hill)
Price
$16
A lighter style, with pretty plum, cherry, vanilla and toast flavors. Tannins are a bit abrupt.

Chateau Felice 2001 Syrah (Chalk Hill)
Price
$22
Smells odd and vegetal, an unripe scent that is not attractive. Marginally better in the mouth, with berry and herb flavors and sturdy, tough tannins.
