Château Greysac 2004 Red (Médoc)

One of the largest Médoc estates, with 230 acres of vines, Greysac is a good, reliable source of classically styled Bordeaux. The style has become more modern in recent years, with an increased use of new wood, as in this 2004, which currently dominates. Enjoy it now for its toasty character, or wait for it to calm down.  — R.V.  (6/1/2007)

On the austere side, with a firm and dry tannic structure, this represents the classic style of Bordeaux. It has black currant fruit and a mineral edge, with a severe structure that demands to be aged.  — R.V.  (3/1/2013)

87-89 With intense acidity, this is a structured, firm wine. The extract is considerable, leaving an edge of bitterness. At the same time, the freshness gives point to the wood tannins.  — R.V.  (6/25/2011)

86-88 Barrel sample. A dominance of new wood gives this wine spice, while the fresh berry fruits are a background, until the final burst of fresh, fruity acidity.  — R.V.  (12/31/2009)

Château Greysac 2005 Barrel sample Red (Médoc)

85-87 Barrel sample. There are very ripe red fruit aromas in this wine, layered with acidity. The palate is also ripe, but with tannins that are dry, solid and dominant in the aftertaste. A wine that is pretty tough at this stage.  — R.V.  (6/21/2006)

This Rhone blend is filled with ripe, sweet juicy flavors of raspberries, cherries and tobacco, and is very delicious. It’s also very soft in acids and tannins, an easy wine that goes down like silk and velvet. Pretty direct and simple, but pleasant.  — S.H.  (1/1/2002)
