Château Gruaud-Larose 2010 Barrel sample Red (Saint-Julien)

  • Online Exclusive
94-96 A solid, chunky wine. It has powerful dry tannins, although they are never dominant, leaving the sweet fruit to shine. Blackberry flavors and the dark core are becoming well integrated.  — R.V.  (6/25/2011)

Château Gruaud-Larose 2005 Red (Saint-Julien)

This tastes of great Cabernet Sauvignon, with its black currant, cedar and herbs and fresh, juicy acidity. It is as fresh as it is rich, but it has a structure of dense tannins that balances the wine. This is one of the best wines from Gruaud-Larose for several years.  — R.V.  (6/1/2008)

Château Gruaud-Larose 2009 Red (Saint-Julien)

  1. $90
Initially wood dominates, but this is a stage after bottling. Because then the ripe, smooth fruit comes in, pouring through with black fruits, very ripe and juicy. As this wine develops, this rich fruit will be its main character.  — R.V.  (2/1/2012)

Château Gruaud-Larose 2007 Red (Saint-Julien)

  1. $50
With a high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon, this is a structured wine, the freshness coming from intense blackberries. Spice and bitter coffee flavors mingle with the tannins, promising some good aging for the vintage.  — R.V.  (4/1/2010)
