92-94 Barrel sample. Very opulent, generous and rich. It shows all the glories of the vintage, with huge but sufficiently restrained fruit, and exuberant tannins.

Château Haut Bages Libéral 2010 Barrel sample Red (Pauillac)
Online Exclusive
92-94 Concentrated tannins, very rich, very firm, very dry at this stage. There is a more juicy character underneath, offering the potential of rich berry fruits. There's a new wood, smoky aftertaste.

Château Haut Bages Libéral 2004 Barrel Sample Red (Pauillac)
92-94 The tannins are so dense and concentrated in this wine, that it is hard to discern the fruit. But the weight suggests the fruit will have equal density to the tannins.

Château Haut Bages Libéral 2011 Barrel Sample Red (Pauillac)
Online Exclusive
90-92. Barrel sample. This is a brooding, dark wine; its tannins are evident, with a complex series of dark, dense flavors. Its fruit is buried under all of its tannic scaffolding.

Château Haut Bages Libéral 2009 Red (Pauillac)
Price
$50
As so often, the wine is foursquare, tough and dark. It has powerful tannins with the weight of fruit well behind at this stage, structure to the front. It needs several years to come into balance.

Château Haut Bages Libéral 2008 Barrel sample Red (Pauillac)

90-92 Barrel sample. This has all the hallmarks of a solid Pauillac - the blackcurrant Cabernet fruits, the dark and dry tannins and a firm explosion of solid structure that goes deep down.
