Château La Mission Haut-Brion 2009 Red (Pessac-Léognan)

  • Cellar Selection
  1. $1100
Such a generous and ripe wine, with a dark core of tannins surrounded by opulent fruit. Black fruits, coffee, very concentrated flavors, a powerhouse of structure and richness. The warmth of the wine is palpable, as is the aging potential.  — R.V.  (2/1/2012)

Château La Mission Haut-Brion 2010 Barrel sample Red (Pessac-Léognan)

  • Online Exclusive
96-98 Very powerful, concentrated wine with the ripest fruit. Blackberry flavors are supplemented by almost stinging acidity, then mitigated by the velvet tannins. A wine that will age for several decades.  — R.V.  (6/25/2011)

Château La Mission Haut-Brion 2005 Red (Pessac-Léognan)

  • Cellar Selection
  1. $1500
Dark and dense, but with such opulent fruit, this is a year when La Mission shows its softer, richer side by comparison with neighbor Haut-Brion. There is spice and exotic and generous red fruits to give with the concentration. It has great power, but it also has a velvet structure.  — R.V.  (6/1/2008)

Château La Mission Haut-Brion 2008 Barrel sample Red (Pessac-Léognan)

95-97 Barrel sample. A muscular wine, with well-defined tannins. The acidity is high, hiding the power and richness of the fruit behind. Then dark tannins come through, with other ripe fruits, finishing with a mineral character.  — R.V.  (12/31/2009)

Château La Mission Haut-Brion 2006 Red (Pessac-Léognan)

  • Cellar Selection
Wonderful sweet fruit, velvet in texture, with concentrated ripe fruits and red berries. This is a wine that rolls sumptuously around the mouth, the tannins certainly dense but full of the same sweetness as the fruit. The final flavor is perfumed and fresh. Deceptively attractive, it will profit from many years’ aging.  — R.V.  (3/1/2009)

95-97 Barrel sample. Lovely, velvet textured wine, with acidity and some spicy wood. The texture is so ripe, the tannins voluptuous, smooth and textured, a light touch of chocolate. Magnificent rich wine.  — R.V.  (8/9/2010)

Château La Mission Haut-Brion 2009 Barrel sample White (Pessac-Léognan)

  • Online Exclusive
94-96 Barrel sample. The wine of Laville Haut-Brion has now become the white of La Mission Haut-Brion. The quality though is as supreme as ever, ripe with tropical fruits, toast, almost honeyed, finishing with pink grapefruit and pear juice.  — R.V.  (8/9/2010)

Château La Mission Haut-Brion 2011 Barrel Sample White (Pessac-Léognan)

  • Online Exclusive
94-96. Barrel sample. This is taut and tight, with so much spice and pepper from the high alcohol and wood aging. But it’s the intensity of fruit that makes this wine such a blockbuster.  — R.V.  (4/5/2012)
