Shows the baked quality some of the 2003 wines have, with dried-fruit notes of dates and prunes but also lots of complex leather and spice flavors. Very supple, almost creamy in texture, this is supremely ripe and probably needs to be consumed in the next year or two.

An impressively full-bodied and structured rosé, this blend of Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault boasts bushels of cherry and berry fruit as well. Intensely flavored, with a burst of citrusy fruit and supple tannins on the finish. Tasted twice, with consistent notes.

The color resembles roasted beets. The simple fruit-forward nose wafts between red and blackberry aromas. Its easygoing tannins, moderate acidity and short finish suggest that this wine should be enjoyed now to mid-2013.

The character of the 2004 vintage gives this wine a sense of freshness and bright acidity that’s not shared by the whites from 2005, but it’s also less ripe and unctuous in texture, with higher acidity and understated fruit. A pleasant, relatively neutral white.
