Château les Ormes Sorbet 2003 Red (Médoc)

The high proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon in this vineyard (65%) paid off in the ripeness of 2003. This is a powerful, very ripe wine, full of sunshine. Wood flavors support the big black fruit. If it lacks the complexity of its succeeding vintage, this 2003 makes up with its openness and generosity. Imported by France Wine.  — R.V.  (5/1/2006)

Château les Ormes Sorbet 2011 Barrel Sample Red (Médoc)

  • Online Exclusive
86-88. Barrel sample. Soft and fruity, the tannins offer a light counterpoint to the red- and dark-berry flavors. Its acidity is very present.  — R.V.  (4/3/2012)

Château les Ormes Sorbet 2006 Red (Médoc)

  • Online Exclusive
Still with its youthful structure and tannins, this is going to be a classically ripe Médoc, all black currant fruits and dry tannins. But to give it weight, there is a rich streak of black plum skin, followed by a tight, dark finish.  — R.V.  (3/1/2009)

Château les Ormes Sorbet 2008 Red (Médoc)

  • Online Exclusive
This is a leaner style of wine than some 2008s, with acidity and dry tannins tightly coiled around black currant fruits. It needs time to soften out.  — R.V.  (12/31/2010)

Château les Ormes Sorbet 2007 Red (Médoc)

  • Online Exclusive
Tobacco and spice aromas precede a palate that has some weight, the tannins quite dry and tight but in balance with the red berry fruits. Spicy wood also shows, while the final acidity is almost too fresh.  — R.V.  (6/1/2010)
