Château Massamier la Mignarde 2004 Domus Maximus Red (Minervois La Liviniere)
Editors' Choice
Price
$34
Named after a Roman legionary who was given a grant of the land on which the estate of Massamier la Mignarde now stands, this wine is a blend of low-yielding Syrah and old-vine Grenache. It’s become a classic since its launch with the 2000 vintage. This 2004, made of beautiful, ripe, densely packed fruit and layered with dry, perfumed tannins, is delicious now but…

Château Massamier la Mignarde 2004 Teniment des Garouilhas Red (Minervois La Liviniere)
Price
$56
The result of a moment of inspiration from Massamier la Mignarde’s owner Frantz Venes. He blended Syrah, Grenache and Carignan and fermented them using Beaujolais-style carbonic maceration. The wine was then aged in wood. It gives a great juicy, brambley and warmly flavored wine. A dry center is surrounded by joyful, fat fruit.

Château Massamier la Mignarde 2004 Tradition Red (Minervois)
Best Buy
Price
$12
This is the classic style of Minervois, with herbal fruits, and strawberry and black plum flavors. The key to this wine is the dry, tannic structure, which roots it firmly in the style of the region.

Château Massamier la Mignarde 2005 Expression de Massamier la Mignarde Carignan (Vin de Pays des Coteaux de Peyriac)
Price
$22
Red cherry and pepper flavors give a warm, southern feel to this juicy wine. It is full, but attractively easy to drink, a glass of ripe sunshine, from this estate in the Minervois region of Languedoc.

Château Massamier la Mignarde 2006 Rosé (Minervois)
Online Exclusive
Price
$15
A rather too full, peppery wine that has caramel and tannin flavors. The fruit is there, red apples, kiwi acidity and pink grapefruit, but the weight is too much.
