Château Pavie Macquin 2010 Barrel sample Red (Saint-Emilion)

  • Online Exclusive
94-96 The wine is juicy, edged with dominant tannins. It has power of course, although this is tempered with the concentrated core and the intense acidity. It's likely to be a powerful wine.  — R.V.  (6/25/2011)

An impressive wine, beautifully structured, never too powerful, very elegant. If it feels a little austere at this stage, that is because the structure is dominating the fruit. Give it 5–6 years and the full splendor will be revealed.  — R.V.  (4/1/2011)

Château Pavie Macquin 2005 Red (Saint-Emilion)

  • Cellar Selection
This chateau deserved its promotion to Premier Grand Cru in 2006. Nicolas Thienpont has made a wonderfully firm, dense wine that piles rich fruit upon tannin upon rich fruit, while still preserving considerable elegance. The after effect is of a solid wine, powerful, long-lasting.  — R.V.  (6/1/2008)

Château Pavie Macquin 2009 Red (Saint-Emilion)

Very fruity aromas hint that this is a bright wine, its tannins shaded by the red and black berry flavors. The structure is integrated, showing ripe as well as fresh fruit with final flavors of chocolate.  — R.V.  (2/1/2012)

Château Pavie Macquin 2008 Barrel sample Red (Saint-Emilion)

91-93 Barrel sample. A perfumed wine, all freshness and sweetness, enticing. The tannins offer the structure, but the fruit wraps around, giving final blackcurrant sorbet flavors.  — R.V.  (12/31/2009)

91-93 Barrel sample. Juicy, fresh fruit, powerful black currant flavors and layers of obvious acidity. But there's more here: underlying, dark, brooding tannins, and vibrant fruits on top.  — R.V.  (6/20/2006)

Château Pavie Macquin 2009 Barrel sample Red (Saint-Emilion)

91-93 Barrel sample. Flavors of acid red berries dominate the wine, leaving the tannins and structure somewhat buried. The wine is very juicy, almost too fruity.  — R.V.  (8/9/2010)

Château Pavie Macquin 2006 Red (Saint-Emilion)

  • Online Exclusive
A lovely, fresh, juicy wine that has a delightful lilt to its fruit. Red and black berries intermingle easily with a core of firm tannins. New wood is a major part of the firm texture, but never too dominant. This is a finely structured wine, already well developed.  — R.V.  (3/1/2009)
