Château Poujeaux 2005 Barrel sample Red (Moulis-en-Médoc)

  • Online Exclusive
92-94 Barrel sample. An intensely ripe, fruity wine, which is already well integrated. The intense dark fruits are supported by some new wood and grainy tannins. This is powerful, and, with its acidity, should age well.  — R.V.  (6/20/2006)

Château Poujeaux 2004 Red (Moulis-en-Médoc)

  • Cellar Selection
This is one of the top two wines of Moulis (the other is Chasse-Spleen), and the 2004 maintains the Poujeaux’s reputation for making wines beyond their class. This is a big wine, exuding power and authority, packed with ripe, but firm tannins and peppered black cherry fruits. With its structure, it will definitely age.  — R.V.  (6/1/2007)

Château Poujeaux 2006 Red (Moulis-en-Médoc)

There’s such style here, richness combined with elegance. That means it does have power, shown in the dense black currant juice and ripe tannin character. But at the same time, all the elements are in balance, giving sweet fruit, a dry core and fresh acidity over aging potential.  — R.V.  (6/1/2009)

Château Poujeaux 2003 Red (Moulis-en-Médoc)

  • Editors' Choice
  1. $25
Undoubtedly one of the two star properties in Moulis. Its quality is impeccable: a Cabernet-dominated wine, with superrich black currant flavors that retain great structure and aging ability. Enjoy this wine in 5–10 years.  — R.V.  (5/1/2006)

Château Poujeaux 2008 Red (Moulis-en-Médoc)

  • Online Exclusive
Big and dense, firmly structured, this is an impressive, long-term wine. It has the weight of rich berry fruits that will develop as the solid, dry tannins soften. Poujeaux is now under the control of the Cuvelier family of Saint-Emilion, and the extra richness may well be the influence from across Bordeaux.  — R.V.  (4/1/2011)

Château Poujeaux 2009 Barrel sample Red (Moulis-en-Médoc)

90-92 Barrel sample. Power and structure over extreme juicy fruits, with black plum skins, spice from wood and a firm underlay.  — R.V.  (8/9/2010)

Château Poujeaux 2002 Red (Moulis-en-Médoc)

A big, generous wine, with sweet black fruit flavors that show well with the acidity and the fresh, open tannins. For a wine from 2002, this has richness and good ripe flavors. There is depth as well as power, and this can certainly be counted one of the success stories of 2002.  — R.V.  (6/1/2005)

Château Poujeaux 2004 Barrel Sample Red (Haut-Médoc)

90–92 Château Poujeaux. It may be powerful, but this wine has great layers of wood and acidity, flavors of blackberries and a juicy, fresh aftertaste.  — R.V.  (6/1/2005)
