Château Quinault L'Enclos 2004 Red (Saint-Émilion)

Alain Raynaud’s vineyard is situated in the city of Libourne, surrounded by housing. His wines have achieved almost cult status. This 2004, with its beautifully smooth, ripe fruit, is more serious than its surface veneer suggests. The tannins are dry, complex and structured, while the rich, juicy flavors are given an extra dimension by the ripe acidity.  — R.V.  (6/1/2007)

91–93. Barrel sample. Surrounded by the city of Libourne, Quinault l'Enclos has produced a Merlot-dominated wine that’s ripe and soft on the palate. There's a good sense of structure, balancing fresh black-currant flavors with delicious acidity.  — R.V.  (4/9/2013)

90-92 Barrel sample. Under new ownership after the sale by Alain Raynaud, this is now a lighter style of wine. But it does have great acidity, really fresh, with smoky tannins.  — R.V.  (8/9/2010)
