Chateau Reynella 2004 Cellar No. One Reserve Shiraz (McLaren Vale)
Price
$65
Loaded with smoke, hickory and vanilla, this definitely shows plenty of oak, but there’s also plenty of fruit to balance the ledger. Cola and blackberry flavors pick up a slightly tart edge on the long, finely textured finish.

Chateau Reynella 2005 Chardonnay (McLaren Vale)
Best Buy
Price
$15
Unusually complex for a wine in this price range, marrying grilled peaches with hints of toasted hazelnut and bacon fat, and wrapped in a layer of cedary, vanilla-scented oak. Medium-bodied, with a long, subtly oaky finish.

Chateau Reynella 1996 Basket Pressed Shiraz (McLaren Vale)
Price
$24
The fruity nose has some cranberry. Full and plummy, there’s good extraction and balance. It’s easy to drink, with much more bold fruit than idiosyncratic leather or beefy touches. Already evolved and mature, you can drink it now with no problem. Tasty mint and woody notes add complexity.

Chateau Reynella 1998 Chardonnay (McLaren Vale)
Best Buy
Price
$11
A stylish and sassy Chardonnay that makes a strong statement without being overdone. Lots of fruit aromas here: apple, citrus and pineapple, but they work together. Has a toasty, bakery note that adds complexity. Best Buy.

Chateau Reynella 1999 Chardonnay (McLaren Vale)

Harmony is the hallmark here. Apple, oak in the background and closing butterscotch are the flavors. The supporting cast of crisp acidity, medium body, and velvety mouthfeel complete this well-knit package. Best Buy.

Chateau Reynella 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon (McLaren Vale)
This Cabernet is drinkable now, and showing soft red fruit with coffee-mocha notes on both the nose and the palate. Very juicy on the finish. Enjoy through 2008.

Chateau Reynella 2002 Basket Pressed Shiraz (McLaren Vale)
Price
$28
Smells spicy, and similar smoke and spice flavors resurface on the palate. This is not a big, overdone style of Shiraz, but it's still a nice one. It has flavors of smoke and red fruit. Flashy and substantial on the midpalate—with good, gripping tannins and a smooth texture—but the palate entry and finish are not quite as impressive.

Chateau Reynella 1996 Basket Pressed Cabernet Sauvignon-Merlot (McLaren Vale)
Price
$24
Violet color. Plenty of plumpness kept even by a cool core of currants and blackberries. Both the flavor and texture linger long into the clean, stylish finish. This is a solid, journeyman’s red—not too exotic, but it delivers the goods. The rhubarb, coconut and nutty oak mingle well together.
