Château Valandraud 2009 Barrel sample Red (Saint-Emilion)

  • Online Exclusive
94-96 Barrel sample. A powerful, rich wine, building between freshness and ripe chocolate, licorice and powerful, ripe fruits. The structure is potentially immense. Great wine  — R.V.  (8/9/2010)

Château Valandraud 2010 Barrel sample Red (Saint-Emilion)

  • Online Exclusive
93-95 Jean-Luc Thunevin's flagship wine is structured certainly, but filled with beautiful perfumed fruit. It is firm while delicious, acidity balancing with a solid core of structure.  — R.V.  (6/25/2011)

Château Valandraud 2008 Barrel sample Red (Saint-Emilion)

  • Online Exclusive
93-95 Barrel sample. Now in the mainstream of top Saint-Emilion wines, the former garage wine is packed with rich, juicy fruit. The acidity is a waft over the firm tannins. There is certainly plenty of new wood, but the opulent fruit balances well.  — R.V.  (12/31/2009)

Château Valandraud 2006 Barrel sample Red (Saint-Emilion)

  • Online Exclusive
91—93 Barrel sample. The wine made by Jean-Luc Thunevin, the original garage wine. Now a proper estate, with a chateau, it still follows the big, fruity model, but without the extraction of the past. Very fruity, it is also very approachable.  — R.V.  (12/31/2009)

Château Valandraud 2009 Virginie de Valandraud Barrel sample Red (Saint-Emilion)

  • Online Exclusive
91-93 Barrel sample. This is the second wine of Valandraud, a structured, important, big wine, beautifully balanced. It has good freshness at the same time as richness.  — R.V.  (3/10/2011)

Château Valandraud 2009 B de Valandraud Barrel sample Red (Saint-Emilion)

  • Online Exclusive
90-92 Barrel sample. This is almost a third wine of Château Valandraud, rich, sweetly fruity, very ripe and spice. Delicious fruit.  — R.V.  (3/10/2011)

Château Valandraud 2005 Barrel sample Red (Saint-Emilion)

  • Online Exclusive
90-92 Barrel sample. One of the likely candidates for promotion to Grand Cru Classé status, this is Jean-Luc Thunevin's original estate. This year there is considerable restraint in what is normally an immensely opulent wine: it is elegant, rather than having a no-holds-barred attitude, that will make this wine a classic.  — R.V.  (6/1/2006)

Château Valandraud 2002 Kosher Red (Saint-Emilion)

  • Kosher
  1. $250
If not the best, then one of the best kosher wines we’ve ever tasted, with smoke, cedar and meat aromas nicely balanced by plummy, chocolaty fruit. A creamy mouthfeel and smooth, easy finish makes it a delight to drink, but consume this Merlot-based wine over the near term. Imported by Royal Wine Corporation.  — W.E.  (4/1/2006)
