Clovis Point 2007 Vintner's Select Merlot (North Fork of Long Island)

  1. $45
Charred oak is prominent here as it is with most Long Island reds, but exceptionally well integrated within a rich, round wine full of supple dark chocolate and fruit flavors. A good example of yin and yang, Clovis Point’s blend of Merlot, Cab Sauvignon and Franc, and Syrah offsets dense, sweet boysenberry and mocha notes with firm tannins and a dark char finish.  — A.I.  (12/15/2010)

Clovis Point 2007 Cabernet Franc (North Fork of Long Island)

  1. $25
Foresty pine and wet earth notes linger on the nose of Clovis Point’s Cab Franc, adding a touch of rusticity to pure, pristine cranberry flavors on the palate. Soft, furry tannins and a warm, spicy note lead to a fairly long finish.  — A.I.  (12/31/2011)

Clovis Point 2005 Merlot (North Fork of Long Island)

  1. $25
Although there’s some underripe black cherry and espresso notes on the nose, char dominates both the bouquet and the palate. It’s a savory, rustic wine without a lot of fruit intensity, but it’s a simple wine for casual dining with rich, meaty fare.  — A.I.  (12/15/2010)

Clovis Point 2007 Barrel Fermented Chardonnay (North Fork of Long Island)

  1. $25
While the nose is vaguely reminiscent of apple juice concentrate with an abundance of high-toned apple, pineapple and citrus notes, the palate is pleasantly surprising. Dry and full bodied in style, it’s elegantly oaked with just a sheen of fresh buttercream layered over fresh apple flavors.  — A.I.  (7/1/2011)

Clovis Point 2006 Vintner's Select Merlot (North Fork of Long Island)

  1. $35
A bold dose of Cabernet Franc adds layers of dried herbs and a slightly dusty wood note to this Long Island Merlot. There’s a hint of green that trails from start to finish, but plenty of bright red fruit balanced with refreshingly high acidity.  — A.I.  (12/31/2011)

Clovis Point 2008 Chardonnay (North Fork of Long Island)

  1. $17
Slight on the nose with hints of underripe pineapple, this dry, medium-bodied Chardonnay is a bit watery on the palate with apple and pear flavors that could use a boost in concentration. Still, it’s refreshing in feel and a contender as a casual summer quaffer.  — A.I.  (7/1/2011)

Pretty notes of fresh apples and sweet cream tempt on the nose and palate of this dry, full-bodied Chard, but sadly, they’re overtaken by a green, vegetal tone that persists from start to finish.  — A.I.  (7/1/2011)
