Conde de Velázquez 2006 Condesa Real Red (Aconcagua Valley)

  1. $26
Velázquez’s most successful and consistent effort is this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah. It’s crusty and dark on the nose, with magnanimous baked-fruit, earth and berry aromas. The feel is just right and the wine shows few, if any, faults or breaks. Overall it’s pure and fades away with rich, dark flavors and velvety tannins. A New World red wine…  — M.S.  (5/1/2009)

Conde de Velázquez 2005 Condesa Real Premium Blend Red (Aconcagua Valley)

  1. $24
There is absolutely nothing wrong with this lighter-styled version of Cabernet Sauvingon, Syrah and Merlot. It opens with weightless flower petal and red-fruit aromas, and the palate meets the challenge with clean plum and berry flavors supported by an undercurrent of creamy oak. At just over 400 cases, it’s definitely a success for this winery.  — M.S.  (9/1/2007)

Conde de Velázquez 2004 Estate Vintage Cabernet Sauvignon (Aconcagua Valley)

  1. $15
As good a wine from Conde de Velázquez as we’ve come across. This reserve-level Cab starts with tight cherry aromas but evolves on the palate with plum, berry and cough drop flavors. Sizable, thorough and well balanced, with body and structure.  — M.S.  (9/1/2007)

Conde de Velázquez 2007 El Conde Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon (Aconcagua Valley)

  1. $14
Starts with hard, spicy, almost rubbery aromas, and while the palate is also a touch hard and lean, the flavors of cherry, cassis and wild berry are good and pure. Accents of herbal leafiness and vanilla are mellow and supportive, not dominant. Yet another solid Chilean Cabernet for under $15.  — M.S.  (12/31/2009)

Conde de Velázquez 2005 El Conde Gran Reserva Merlot (Aconcagua Valley)

  1. $12
There’s a weighty overlay of oak, but the fruit is here and it’s fairly balanced and reserved in nature. This is in a softer style with black cherry and sweet plum flavors, and not too much acidity. Drink now.  — M.S.  (9/1/2007)

Conde de Velázquez 2001 Estate Vintage Cabernet Sauvignon (Aconcagua Valley)

  1. $13
Spicy up front, with aromas of tire rubber, forest and dried fruits. Decent levels of cherry and raspberry; while the finish has some mint. A touch green at the end, which brings it down. Imported by WTWM Imports.  — M.S.  (7/1/2005)

Conde de Velázquez 2006 Don Raphael Single Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc (Aconcagua Valley)

  1. $9
Apple and even some hazelnut create a sweet nose, then comes a soda-like palate that houses lime and orange flavors. It's a fairly intense, live-wire sort of wine, but it's also a touch candied and drab.  — M.S.  (9/1/2007)
