Confin 2004 Premium Reserve Red (Rapel Valley)

  1. $20
Full, round, stocky and ripe, with an aromatic foundation of tobacco, black fruit and rubber. The three grapes that comprise this wine are Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère and Merlot, and together they form a full-bodied yet juicy triumverate that culminates with chocolate, pepper and lush tannins.  — M.S.  (11/15/2006)

Confin 2004 Winemaker Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon (Rapel Valley)

  1. $14
Plum, blackberry and other dark fruits coat the smooth bouquet. The palate is fairly intense, with saturated plum and berry flavors. Very solid and tight, with ripe tannins and a chewy feel. Good Cabernet that will please most.  — M.S.  (10/1/2006)

Confin 2004 Winemaker Reserve Merlot (Rapel Valley)

  1. $14
More full and powerful than the regular Merlot, with berry compote, lemon peel and toast on the nose. Fairly full in body, while the red-fruit flavors are solid and familiar. Has good structure and a linear finish. Good in its class.  — M.S.  (10/1/2006)

Confin 2005 Carmenère (Rapel Valley)

  1. $12
Ripe and ready, although it is a little bit herbal. It runs sweet in the mouth, with berry flavors blended with chocolate. Tannic power builds on the palate, and it finishes firm but bearable.  — M.S.  (11/15/2006)

Confin 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon (Rapel Valley)

  1. $11
Firm, a touch rubbery, and quite full-bodied, with earthy aromas of coffee and black fruits. Cassis and berry are the primary flavors, while the saturated palate is chewy and dense. Runs a touch toward sweet and syrupy, but holds the line.  — M.S.  (10/1/2006)

Confin 2005 Chardonnay (Rapel Valley)

  1. $11
Citrus and mineral on the proportioned nose is a solid opening. Peach and green apple flavors are solid, while the feel is zesty if a bit narrow and acidic. Finishes with oomph and clarity.  — M.S.  (10/1/2006)

Confin 2004 Merlot (Rapel Valley)

  1. $11
Sulfuric at first, and later it’s strawberry and tomato that control the nose. In the mouth, it’s sweet and a bit syrupy, with generic black fruit leading the way. Finishes with milk chocolate and a hint of burnt toast and grass.  — M.S.  (10/1/2006)
