Consilience 2001 Pinot Noir (Santa Barbara County)

$30
Lush in ripe cherry fruit, powerfully spiced, crisp in acids, nicely oaked, and with a fine, silky texture, this is a picture perfect South Coast, cool-climate Pinot Noir. It also has a rich earthiness, and retains the delicacy and elegance that varietal demands.

Consilience 2000 Rodney's Vineyard Syrah (Santa Barbara County)
-
$30
A deep, dark and impressive wine made from Fess Parker’s estate, in the Santa Ynez Valley. It has opening aromas of blackberry, dark plum, smoke and oak and a note of cheddar, and drinks intense in fruity flavor and tannins. It’s a young, firm wine but a pliant one, and will be beautiful now with a grilled T-bone steak.

Consilience 1998 Rhodes Vineyard Zinfandel (Redwood Valley)

$27
The ripe berry flavors wear a veil of deeply toasted oak in this smooth and supple wine, but does it with finesse. Flavorful, smooth and not weighty, it has a pleasing, even texture on the tongue and displays good persistence with berry, pepper and dark toast flavors lingering on the back end. Perhaps over-oaked, but suavely so.
