Continuum 2007 Red (Napa Valley)

  1. $140
Feels fancy and important in the mouth, with pure, refined tannins housing ripe, complex flavors of blackberries, black currants, cherries, chocolate, exotic spices and sweet, smoky oak. The finish is dry but with a tinge of sweetness, like an infused blackberry liqueur, which probably is the result of high (15.3%) alcohol. Very rich and layered, and a great…  — S.H.  (7/1/2010)

Continuum 2006 Red (Oakville)

  1. $140
Tim Mondavi and family strive to join the pantheon of cult wine with this, his second vintage of a Cab-based Bordeaux blend. It’s quite good, a soft, complex wine of luxurious texture and deep, impressive flavors of splendidly ripe blackberries and cherries, anise, chocolate and smoky cedar.  — S.H.  (9/1/2009)

Continuum 2005 Proprietary Red Wine (Oakville)

  1. $130
Tim Mondavi is back with this interesting Cabernet blend. It’s very much in the modern Napa style, soft, rich and sophisticated, with cherry, red currant, Asian spice and new oak flavors. It’s an elegant wine, but a fairly tannic one, with a dusty astringency that suggests mid-term aging. An auspicious, if expensive, new beginning.  — S.H.  (6/1/2008)

Continuum 2008 Red (Napa Valley)

  1. $150
A Bordeaux blend, based on Cabernet Sauvignon. It’s very rich and ripe, a wine that will appeal to fans of the modern California style for its voluptuous berry, cherry, cassis, spice and cedar flavors. The tannins are soft and gentle. Delicious and complex, if not quite up to the 2007. Give it a good, long decant.  — S.H.  (8/1/2011)
