Cornerstone 2009 Sauvignon Blanc (Napa Valley)
Editors' Choice
Online Exclusive
Price
$25
This lovely Sauvignon Blanc was cold fermented, then aged on the lees in neutral oak barrels. That was the perfect way to treat the grapes, which were grown in St. Helena. The wine shows rich flavors of limes, green melons and lemongrass, with a softly creamy texture and a long, spicy, honey-rich finish.

Cornerstone 2009 The Cornerstone Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)
Online Exclusive
Price
$125
This is a rich, elaborate Cabernet Sauvignon. It’s opulent and flashy, with upfront blackberry jam, black currant, chocolate, spice and new oak flavors, and the tannins are ultrasmooth. Made in the soft, appealing modern style.

Cornerstone 2009 Red (Napa Valley)
Online Exclusive
Price
$60
Delicious, first class and possibly ageable. It’s rich in blackberry pie filling, crême de cassis and sweet oak flavors, with a firm minerality that adds structural integrity. Sweet and ripe, but elegant. Will provide pleasant drinking over the next four years.

Cornerstone 2010 Sauvignon Blanc (Napa Valley)
Price
$25
Here’s a fancy Sauvignon Blanc, rich enough to drink with upscale dishes. It’s smooth and creamy and very ripe in pineapple and tropical fruit flavors. Tastes sweet, but the sugariness disappears into a swirl of spice on the finish.

Cornerstone 2009 Pinot Noir (Willamette Valley)
Price
$50
This opens pleasantly, with black cherry, cola and toast components all nicely balanced. It continues through a medium body with medium length; then a Bourbon barrel note takes over the finish.

Cornerstone 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon (Howell Mountain)
Online Exclusive
Price
$100
At the age of nearly four years, this Cabernet remains a bit ungainly. Although it has some very pretty, polished mountain tannins, it tastes somewhat sweet and extracted in jammy blackberries and black cherries, with a mocha and vanilla richness reminiscent of a Starbucks drink. Could develop with time.

Cornerstone 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon (Napa Valley)
Online Exclusive
Price
$65
Sweet in blackberry, currant and chocolate flavors, this Cab shows complex Napa tannins and is balanced with adequate acidity. It’s a bit direct, but may develop bottle complexities over the next few years.

Cornerstone 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon (Howell Mountain)
Online Exclusive
Price
$75
Too extracted by far, so rich and sweet in fruit, it’s like a blackberry and cherry Slurpee. Doesn’t really showcase Howell Mountain at all, except for the polished, firm tannins.
