Corte Campagnola 2004 Gli Archi Red (Amarone della Valpolicella Classico)
-
$40
From a small, quality-minded producer who buys grapes and also grows them, here is a gorgeous wine with amazing intensity and refined nuances of small berry fruit, cassis, wild apple, nut, white peppercorn and pine. It is a traditional Amarone with great length, durability and bright acidity on the close that ages in wood for 24 months.

Gli Archi is a beautiful, modern Amarone with thick and syrupy notes of chocolate fudge, bright red fruit, roasted chestnut and freshly brewed coffee. But it’s not sticky or cloying; in fact, it’s firm and compact with dusty tannins, good length and a wonderful ability to slide smoothly over the palate.
